What is a true companion? A true companion is a good friend. Someone you can really count on to be there in both the best and worst of times. Often times people think of them as a person who thinks little of themselves. That is not always true. They just don't always think of themselves. Now that's not to say that they do not think more of other people than people normally do.
For all of you who think you can't be a good friend or companion because your life is a mess, take a look at the people who are friends to you and ask them what troubles they have. You may find that they have just as many troubles as you. Some of the people may be good companions just because they know what it's like to have trouble.
The funny thing about finding a good friend or companion is that you can find them by, yourself, becoming a friend to a person. You might think that this will only work one way, but people aren't born good people. They have to be encouraged and given help. I'm not saying that they will come back to help you, they may just be practice for you. You will screw up. No one is a perfect friend and becoming a nice person is a permenant work in progress. So go out and try helping someone. They may need it and in doing this you can build the person up. Now look at them, they don't look so bad right?
what if you aren't? do you just sit around waiting? My answer is no. A companion is a different thing to different people. Each of us is different. There is no way we can all be the same or need the same help. So you don't exactly have to be the ideal companion. You should probably go about your normal business so that you will attract a person you can get along with. Just keep in mind that someone has to start the relationship. Why shouldn't it be you. Statistically that should double your chance of finding a companion. Now this all depends on how hard you are looking or working. It also give you more control.
As i said above you can go looking, but don't try to go in it just for yourself. Going along trying to befriend the best of the best. The best of the best may not need a companion or already have one. That is why they are so successful. Go help someone that is on your level or below. I can't say what is your level or who is below it. All i can say is that if you are looking for a companion, look for someone you can be a companion to.
You don't have to be selfless, just be sensible and use logic. If you can be a companion to someone you are probably at least a little compatible. Shouldn't that be enough to spark your interest. You don't have to charge head in. Go over and talk to the person. One of the great things about becoming friens first is that you can have a lot of friends so it should work faster and you should learn faster. Not only that you will have loads of friends.
